How do i get the joint off the shaft (i am thinking it is rusted)?

There is a U joint that is attached to a shaft that has a sprocket on the inside of the shaft and the joint goes on after but inorder the change the sprocket i need to take off the joint which will not come off after taking the roll pin out. I am thinking it is rusted. does anyone have any ideas of how to get that off??

ThanxHow do i get the joint off the shaft (i am thinking it is rusted)?
HI

Look for a snap ring holding the cap in the yoke. it could be hard to see and be ether on the inside or the out side. It sits in a grove in the yoke..

Then to remove

SUPPORT the Yoko above the ground the use a socket to drive the upper cap down to drive the lower cap off.

good luck

Ahem. What kind of year, make/model and engine and transmission are we talking about here? More than likely, there's a little cir-clip holding the pin in place. It will have to be replaced anyways as they're only good for one installation at a time in reality. Also, a brass punch rod about a third smaller than the piece in question, along with a three pound hammer should remove the spline shaft nicely without damaging anything. How do i get the joint off the shaft (i am thinking it is rusted)?
It is pressed on.

You need a press or a socket and hammer
