How hard is it to put in new gears for a 2002 F 150...?

I had a post earlier about u joints and that wasnt the problem, i took off my differential cover and tadah....my gears are stripped. There is only 1 that is stripped and its a smaller gear. My truck is a 2002 F-150 ext cab 4.6 5 speed, im not sure about the differential though. Can I change the gear myself or do I have to take it to a dealer or shop? and what kind of price is this gonna be? Thanks...I'll add more details if you tell me what you need to know. How hard is it to put in new gears for a 2002 F 150...?
You need to have someone set it up right, or it will make noise and go out prematurely. Trust me on this one.How hard is it to put in new gears for a 2002 F 150...?
You can do it yourself for sure. gte one of those chilton manuals and go to carquest or Napa to get the partHow hard is it to put in new gears for a 2002 F 150...?
You need a specialist. It requires great skill to align the gears in a differential. You might want to just swap the axle, but in any case, you need a shop that specializes in this work. Not just any mechanic can do it. you want someone who has done a lot of them and for a long time or it will be noisy and maybe fail very prematurely. I'm surprised it failed at all unless it has had a really hard life or no lubrication. How hard is it to put in new gears for a 2002 F 150...?
its really hard to put new gears in because those aren't the original gears that the car, differential, and engine are used to. even if you manage to put them in, the vehicle will have to get used to them, so the driving might be a little different for a while after putting the new gears are in.
